The Treatment and Education of Autistic and Related Communication Handicapped Children (TEACCH) is an evidence-based approach to training individuals diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorders. It is one of the most valid treatment programs for this population. It considers the various features of Autism and attempts to reduce the difficulties faced by the individuals on the spectrum using structured and continuous intervention, environmental adaptations and by helping them use alternative ways of communication. This practical training session introduced the TEACCH approach to our staff by helping them understand the basic principles behind the approach and some examples on how it can be implemented in therapeutic and educational settings.
